Don’t forget to check those December opening times

•November 27, 2010 • Leave a Comment

Hi All,

Just a quick one from me. The opening times are now on the homepage so please make sure you take a peek at those before giving us a call to book an appointment over the next 4 weeks.

I will be away for a couple of weeks enjoying the beautiful Caribbean sunshine but Louise, Adele and Jenny will be on hand to sort out any enquiries and appointment requests.

Please keep in mind that as the shop will not always be open it may take slightly longer than normal for one of the girls to come back to you. Please be patient, you will be called as soon as your message is picked up.

In the meantime take care of yourselves over the next few weeks, it looks like your in for a cold snap…..did I mention I am going to the Caribbean!! We are actually going away to celebrate our first anniversary. It seems impossible that it is a year ago that I first started this blog and nearly a year since I got married myself!!

For those of you that I don’t have time to catch up with before Christmas, have a fabulous time and I’ll see you in the New Year.

Christmas Opening Times and Saturday Bookings

•November 5, 2010 • Leave a Comment

Hello all,

With Christmas round the corner I will be posting the December opening times shortly, as the shop will be closed for quite a large chunk of December make sure you get your appointments booked in early.

I just wanted to put a quick note on regarding Saturday bookings. The shop is now booking Saturdays 4 weeks in advance, which is wonderful for me, but not so good for those of you wanting to get booked in. So, therefore if you are thinking of coming to see me and my wonderful collection of dresses then why not give me a call to book up in advance. January and February were manic months last year so if you know you are wanting to come in early in the New Year then give me a call and we’ll get something in the diary.

I know I am rubbish!!

•October 1, 2010 • Leave a Comment

I’m rubbish, I know I am……my blog updating has been nothing to write home about recently, I am so sorry for the lack of updates but things have just been so busy (which is fabulous) so, I now have lots of things to update you on…..

FIONA & MATT

Firstly, Congratulations to Matt and Fiona who got married today at Eynsham Hall…..I am waiting to hear whether she got into the small Morgan car to go for a spin and managed to stay dry and clean! The weather may be hideous outside but Fiona looked absolutely amazing just as I left her walking down the aisle, Matt is a very lucky guy. Congratulations again to you both and make sure I get some pictures.

PICTURES

In fact, speaking of pictures if you have been married in one of my fabulous dresses/headpieces/veils over the last few months then please make sure you send me some pics and let me know how your big day went. I love to hear all your stories.

ADELE

Now, on to something super exciting……the Mae Bridal team has expanded and I now have the wonderful Adele helping me out 2 days a week. For those of you that have been lucky enough to have an appointment with Adele already you’ll know that she has taken to the shop like a complete Duck to Water and hopefully it now means I can have a little bit of a rest…..humm unlikely but it is so nice to have someone to share the workload with.

THE BAYTREE, BURFORD

Now wedding fayre season is upon us and with one already under my belt, I have the very beautiful Baytree in Burford this weekend. So if you are looking for an opportunity to come and have an informal chat with me or perhaps book an appointment then why not come along and see me between 12-4pm on Sunday 3rd October.

APPOINTMENTS

Things are still busy at the shop which is wonderful, but this is meaning that the diary is filling up quite far in advance. I am currently fully booked on Saturday’s for the next 2 weeks. So if you know a date that you would like to book, even if it feels very far in advance, why not get a date in the diary now to avoid disappointment. Just call the shop and speak to either Adele or myself on 01993 706556.

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS DAY IN WITNEY

Now, Finally, you may be wondering why I have turned my front window into a Pink wedding!! It is breast cancer awareness weekend in Witney on Saturday 2nd October. The town will be full of entertainers and stalls for you to purchase little bits from and various people will be wandering around with donation buckets. So if you can make it into town then why not come down and help a good cause.  Don’t forget to check out my “pink” window.

OK, now, I think that is it from me, although I am sure I had more to write. I hope that all my brides this weekend have a wonderful time, including Fiona, Lisa and Maria.

I promise to write again soon and fill you in on my Harrogate purchases that will arrive in the shop in January 2011.

This is all about celebrating that Mae Bridal has been open a year and still going strong, so I would like you to join me for a glass of champers to celebrate. There are no fitting appointments available on the day but why not pop in and book an appointment and register for my win a wedding dress competition.

I look forward to seeing you on Sunday.

1 Year Old – Where did that go?

•August 21, 2010 • Leave a Comment

Would you believe that Mae Bridal has been going a year? It is terrrifying how quick time has gone. I have helped so many of you find your dream dress and consistently had good reviews. My main aim when I opened this shop was to give you all a wonderful experience that you will treasure for the rest of your life. I hope for most of you I have fulfilled this goal.

For those of you that have helped me be a success and got yourselves all married off over the last year, I thank you. It has been an absolute pleasure dealing with all my gorgeous brides and their lovely families.

A special congratulations must go out to Hannah Hatton who gets married today. Hannah came to see me on my first day of opening last year and I have seen her through from start to finish. I had the absolute pleasure of going to dress the girls this morning and it was a bit emotional. Congratulations Hannah & Dan.

I also have some exciting news, from 20th September the wonderful Adele will be working with me 2 days a week, so if you come in on Monday’s and Thursday’s in the future you will have the great pleasure of 2 of us to fluff your dress and make you feel and look wonderful. Adele is great and after only her first day has taken to the wedding dress experience like a duck to water. Rest assured you are in good hands.

I am off to Harrogate in the next few weeks for the September Wedding Show. I am hoping to find a few gems in there for my new collections that will arrive Jan 2011. Below is a sneak peek of one of the dresses that I have purchased from the new Trudy Lee collection due into store next January.

As always if I can assist in any way please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Happy First Birthday Mae Bridal.

Job Opportunity

•July 29, 2010 • Leave a Comment

Now that Mae Bridal has been going a year it is about time that I got somebody in to help me. I am starting to learn that there just isn’t enough of me to go round some days!!

So I am looking for a part time assistant in the shop. It will be for 2 days a week initially, progressing to include every other Saturday as time goes on. There may be the occassional late night when the shop is busy with fittings.

I am wanting somebody flexible that is happy to work and cover me when times are busy.

The right candidate will of course need a passion for wedding dresses, with enthusiasm and a can do attitude. I am hoping to find someone just like me, a love of everything wedding and a passion for talking!!!

If you think you have what it takes to work at Mae Bridal, please send me your CV with your anticipated wage to info@maebridal.co.uk.

The closing date for applications will be Friday 13th August.

I will of course be offering a selection of late night appointments to compensate for my Saturday closure, so please don’t hesitate to call and ask for an alternative evening.

Thanks

Best New Bridal Retailer and the world of awards ceremonies

•July 12, 2010 • Leave a Comment

Something a bit different for you to have a read of today whilst having your cup of tea and sneeky biscuit….

I remember at one of my many previous jobs watching the company director write a lengthly piece on the in’s and out’s of how he ran his business, where he saw the company going in the next 5 years, turnover etc etc etc, and what for? A piece of glass award that didn’t mean a great deal to me or the girls in my team.

That was until my previous boss Paul, asked me to go along to the awards ceremony with him. So with my best frock on and a couple of glasses of wine in the system to our surprise the company Paul and I were representing were announced as the winners of the award. I thankfully did not have to say a word into the microphone, Paul did a grand job of that, but wow what a buzz, now I understand why the company director spent that time filling in endless questions on what the company ethics were and where the future would take the company.

Since then I have been waiting to get involved in an awards cermony that may just appreciate the hard work and dedication I have put into Mae Bridal to make it work and make sure that you, my wonderful brides, walk away talking about me (in a good way of course).

Well the time has come and I am sat here trying to get inspiration for my 500 word application to hopefully be shortlisted for the Best New Bridal Retailer of the Year. I have already posted an award for the Specsavers Women of the Year awards, and with the finalists being announced at the end of this month I am wondering if all the hard work will be worth it and I may be recognised for the work I have put in.

Having said this, do I really need an award to tell me what I already know? I know I have a busy shop with happy customers and a wonderful word of mouth reputation, well I may not need the award but it will be nice for those of you that stumble across Mae Bridal and don’t have a clue what I am all about.

So, will I win?? who knows and with the awards not until next March I have a long wait. But if you can all keep your fingers and toes crossed for Mae Bridal and keep giving me your wonderful reviews, then who knows what the future holds………

I noticed the other day that you can also review the shop via google, so if you haven’t yet reviewed your experience at Mae Bridal then please do feel free to write a review.
